Show Some Love - Sweet Love!!

I love sweetened condensed milk. Versatile tastiness should be its name.

Today I will share two "show some extra love" tips that involve this tasty treat that comes in the "oh so cute" 14 ounce can.

If you have a coffee lover in your house who likes their java a little sweet replace the sugar with the sweetened condensed milk (SCM). My friend, Deb, who grew up in Africa, shared this little gem of an idea with me. Thank you, Deb. You are a true friend.

This weekend I will add some to Kind Sir Bill's mug and he will feel very much loved (just as a note, he likes his coffee a little creamier, so I add a bit of half and half also.) Nothing says "extra love" to a coffee drinker more than SCM and half and half!!!!

My next tip will show some love to all the crafty painters in your household. Take a look at the heart painting below. This my friend was painted with, yes..believe me....Sweetened Condensed Milk!!

Open a can of SCM and divide it into four or five different bowls. Add some food coloring to each bowl (Anna used neon colors). Begin painting. The end result is shiny and puffy and dries like plastic. The paint is very tasty but there is one warning. Your tongue may be neon colored for the rest of the day!!!

A Fun Morning!

Last week Nicky (Christian's girlfriend) came over to spend the morning with Anna. They went to the fabric store and came back home to sew pillows!! And watch SpongeBob. And eat lunch together.

They had a great time together!! We love this girl and enjoy having her around as much as we can.

A Little Green for St. Patrick's Day!

Remember when I mentioned that practically no holiday around here goes unnoticed? Well, Bethany was home this weekend and she and Anna Leigh whipped up a batch of these little tasty morsels!! Candy coating on a mint chocolate oreo - these are way better than twix!! Add a cup of coffee and - Oh My!! I'm thinking if we just change the color of the sprinkles, we could have these for every holiday!! Hey, we have yellow sprinkles. Isn't the first day of spring on Friday?? I say we "celebrate"!!

Valentine Preparations

Anna has been busy this week. Seems when a holiday roles around (even a minor one) she is busily crafting or baking or both. Notice her valentine Chinese lantern. We found the lantern at Michael's for $1!!! She cut tissue paper hearts and painted over them with a little glue/water mixture. I thought this simple craft turned out terrific!! Simple enough that even I could do it!!! Possibly.
On Wednesday Bethany came home from college for an evening visit. We won't be seeing her this weekend so Anna made her some muffins to take back to school with her. The recipe was from the Deceptively Delicious cookbook. They were carrot/peanut butter and were mighty tasty!! Unfortunately, the ones I made (cauliflower/peanut butter) were just - smelly!!!
Here are the cookies she made for friends at the gym and Christian. Dark chocolate chip - yum! She also made peanut butter. Her little table decoration is a wooden painted box with button heart holding a construction paper heart flower. This kid is crafty - I tell you.

Finally, a shot of her at work. She got into the valentine spirit by wearing red and pink. Actually, I don't even think she realized her color combination. A hoodie and sweatpants is what she hangs out in most days at home!!!!
